Chapter 10: Restructuring Subsidies to support a Transition to a VAS

This chapter presents the global and EU level of agricultural subsidies primarily for meat and dairy production.  It outlines the multifaceted benefits of healthy ecosystems which can be achieved by converting subsidies from animal agriculture to subsidies – both plant based agricultural systems and payments for ecosystem services.  It concludes with recommendations for revisions to subsidies to land owners in Ireland.
