This chapter describes the extent of antibiotic and pesticide use in Ireland. A VAS is an organic plant based agricultural system. This would eliminate the need for antibiotics and pesticides and the huge problems of anti-microbial resistance and pesticide pollution. There is also an introduction to some of the other major environmental impacts of Irish Agriculture.
